Morning Routine

7:00 AM: Wake up and have breakfast before the day of mental health programming begins

9:00 AM: Clinical groups covering a variety of topics like art therapy or equine therapy begin

Noon: Break for lunch

Afternoon Activities

1:00 PM – 4:00 PM: Structured academic instruction each weekday, ensuring clients stay in line with the curriculum of home school districts

5:00 PM: Physical fitness, including boxing sessions, personal training sessions, or access to in-home fitness equipment

Evening Wind Down

FAQs About Our Adolescent Inpatient Program for Mental Health

After residential treatment programming with Mission Prep Teen Treatment, you may elect to attend an outpatient program to ease the transition back to your daily life.

At this program in Rancho Palos Verdes, we offer weekly visitation and family support services. On-site family visits occur every Sunday between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM, and 30-minute remote visits can also be arranged during this time. 

We also offer a bi-weekly tailored family program (first half guardians only, second half includes the client, with a remote option), and a weekly Family Support Group every Wednesday.

If appropriate for the teen’s treatment, personal cell phone usage is allowed under supervision during sessions with a clinical team member and during specialized “Tech Time” clinical groups. Uniquely, our program teaches healthy moderation rather than strictly banning technology. Clients also have daily access to a house landline for 10-minute calls to approved contacts during non-programming times.

This house hosts a capacity of six boys at a time, with double-occupancy bedrooms.

At our residential treatment program in Rancho Palos Verdes, teens attend three hours of structured academic instruction each weekday and are supported by an on-site master’s-level educator in classrooms equipped with laptops. From hikes to aquarium visits, each moment is intentionally curated to build lasting wellness.

At the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium, clients can attend free film screenings or check out the local exhibits. The Susanne Lawrenz-Miller Exhibit Hall specifically features five major environments of Southern California: Sandy Beaches, Mudflats, Rocky Shores, Kelp Forests, and Open Ocean Ecosystems.

Point Fermin Park is known for its unique landscaping, shaded areas, and views of the ocean. Charted by the British explorer George Vancouver in 1793, it was named to thank Father Fermin Francisco de Lasuen for his hospitality at the mission in Carmel, and it is home to beautiful Monarch butterflies.

This particular residential facility for adolescents is near the Ocean Trails Reserve, where clients can hike and enjoy beautiful cliffside views. These ocean views are especially stunning during the summer months at sunset.
