Marissa Carnahan earned her B.A. in Early Childhood from Concordia University Irvine and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Social Work at Arizona State University. Marissa’s career began in early childhood development, working as a preschool teacher in private Christian schools across Southern California. There, she focused on providing individualized care for children needing additional support. Marissa later transitioned into the mental health field, gaining experience in adult and young adult mental health and detox facilities. She has served in various roles including technician, lead technician, and temporary case manager. Marissa’s passion for mental health is deeply rooted in both personal experiences and a strong commitment to helping others grow and heal. Supporting individuals through their development is incredibly fulfilling and continues to drive her dedication to this work. Marissa has participated in a Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)-adherent program and firmly believes in its effectiveness. She also incorporates motivational interviewing to foster meaningful connections and truly hear her clients’ perspectives.
